Shopping in Thailand
Thailand, and especially Bangkok, is a very good metropolis for shopping with relative low prices and a wide range of shopping facilities. But you will also find reasonable prices in Koh Samui and the other islands in the Surat Thani province. You should try to bargain "on the streets", or in minor private owned shops, but it is not often possible or "accepted" in a store or shopping center.
ATM machines and banks
Nowadays there are many ATM's (Automatic Teller Machine) on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. They often accept most credit, debit and electron cards as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Diners Club etc. There are also several banks in Koh Samui and Koh Phangan as well as micro brand banks or exchange offices.
Licensed banks in Thailand
All of them are represented on Koh Samui. You will also find these banks in Suratthani and a few on Koh Phangan.
