Famous Thai Dishes Thailand is well known for its traditional food. It is generally very healthy with a lot of vegetables and not much fat, but some dishes are hot and spicy because of the generous use of chili in cooking. So when you are ordering your meal, we recommend you to tell the waiter if you like it spicy or not. Dining on the Islands


On this page we have listed a selection of the most popular restaurants on the islands. It is everything from affordable food centers to gourmet restaurants. Maybe you'll find it useful when you are going to find a place to eat your breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.

On these islands you will of course find the traditional Thai food, not rarely with a noticeable curry and chili sting. Thai food often has a rice or noodle base, flavored with various ingredients such as vegetables, chicken, fish, sea food, coconut milk, lemongrass, nuts etc.

International restaurants and cuisines such as Japanese, American, Italian, Swedish, Korean, English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Indian etc. are of course also found on these islands.

Food Stalls and Restaurants


Almost everywhere, you will find cheap local Thai food stalls, food centers, soup stalls and other rather basic restaurants. It is normally delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. 40-100 baht per meal is a common price. Boiled drinking water and ice is commonly served free.

	Yellow Pizzeria - Ristorante The Italian chef guarantees a delicious and authentic Italian cuisine, traditional Thai dishes and a great pizza made in a wood fired oven. 	The Cliff Bar & Grill Between Lamai and Chaweng. Stylish dining Mediterranean and International menu in this restaurant, bar and a 28 seat terrace area outside. 	Salathai Lamai Beach Road. Thai classic dining Traditional gourmet Thai menu. Fresh fish and seafood. A full range of selected red and white wine as well as beer and delicious fruit juices and shakes.   Location: 124/173, Moo 3, Tambon Maret, Koh Samui (In the center of Lamai beach).
	Ciao Restaurant At Lamai Beach Road. Swedish meatballs A mix of Italian, Swedish, Thai and International food in the heart of Lamai. 	El Dorado Restaurant and Bar At Lamai Beach. A dining El dorado International, European and Thai menu. A very popular barbecue grill every Wednesday with marinated meat and a range of delicious sauces and salads.   Location: Moo 3, Tambon Maret, Koh Samui (In the South/Center of Lamai beach).
	Suthee - BBQ and restaurant At Ring Road, North Lamai. Affordable menu A traditional Thai restaurant with very reasonable prices. Thai and international menu. Barbecue everyday. Eat as much as you can.   Location: North Lamai, on the Samui Ring Road, 100 meters South of IT Complex.
	Kokomiko Restaurant At Ring Road, close to Hinta Hinyai South of Lamai A small but cozy restaurant with a menu including Thai, German and International dishes. We definitely recommend the steaks. Beer, wine and non alcoholic drinks.   Location: 127/4, Moo 3, Tambon Maret, Koh Samui (South of Lamai beach, close to the Post Office).
	Rocky's Restaurant Located inside Rocky Resort, between Lamai and Hua Thanon, close to Hinta Hinyai. Homemade pizza, fine meats and steaks, fresh seafood, and traditional Thai dishes on the menu in this beautiful restaurant.   Location: At Rocky Resort, 438/, Moo 1, Tambon Maret, Koh Samui (South Lamai).
