Bessing With Papers

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Today we woke up to rain again but I did not have to drive Khun, he slept at a friends house as I wrote yesterday and they had their last day in school. Today we planned on getting everything done that we could not do yesterday. Our plan was to leave early in the morning since things always takes more time then expected but we could not leave until after noon. Well, we could but then we would have to drive almost one extra lap around the island. We rushed away and went to Chaweng to get a bank statement just as we did tree months ago. We then drove to the other side or the island to get more papers just as we did tree months ago. The lady in the office had a very hard time to understand why we needed the papers since the papers I already have cannot be made unless I already had the other papers. I guess she felt that immigration just do not trust her and that is actually the only way I can see it. A bunch of papers are needed to get one certificate. And in the next step you need the license but again the papers that was needed top get the license. Jawn!

We got those papers and made some extra copies for the future, you never knew, and then went to the immigration to extend my visa with one year. Now the next issue. The bank account I used in Bangkok was not valid here because it did not have a book. I was about to explode because I got flashes in my head seeing myself going to Bangkok just to make the extension. I said that times evolve and this system is to old, I must be able to use the same bank account here if it was okay in Bangkok. He passed the papers to another guy and we followed into this mans office. After talking back and forth he got to speak to the head lady in my bank and she said she would fix what was needed. It all comes down to that they need to see that my money has been in the account for a specific time. Without the old fashion bankbook which will print all transfers at checkup this was a bit of a problem.

We took off to Chaweng again but now the it was already late in the afternoon so we would not have time to get it all done today. In the bank we noticed that she had not made the papers as they were needed and had to explain for her again what was being told in the phone earlier. She promised to have them done tomorrow morning. The adventure continues....

Rainy Days

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Today we had a very rainy day. In the morning I drove Khun to the school and I then went back home. I was driving behind another car who slowed down and turned right into another road, I was on the far left side of the road and I was almost standing still when the car in front of me was making the turn. Suddenly a motorbike appears in front of me. The idiot who drove it drove on the far right side since the car in front of me was blocking the road for a few seconds while turning. The guy on the bike braked as hard as he could and was almost about to fall on the slippery road but got the bike to stop just centimeters from my car. The face on the guy revealed that he got really scared and he gesticulated that he was sorry. I did not give him a smile or anything back. I will never be able to understand the thoughts inside such brain.

Because it was bad weather we planned to do the last step in my visa procedure which need to be done and we called the bank to get a bank statement. We were told that it would be done in just about an hour. A few hours later the bank called us and said that they could not do it today because the lady who are authorized to do this had problems with her password. So we did not get anything done with that today.

This was the last week in school for Khun, now they have the mid term break, and lately he has not been home much. They are training for singing contests almost every afternoon and today he and a few more friends would sleep over at a friends house. When he started the school here I never thought he would have problems getting friends but I would never guess that it would be like this. He have so many friends and he has also got a few who did not really liked each other before to become friends because Khun used to play with both of them.
