Musical Friday

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Friday, April 30, 2010

Samui Boat

Yet another hot day that I decided to spend with music. I just started to work with a new guy on some productions which will be interesting to see where they end up. I still have a very sore throat so I will not be able to go to the gym for some more days.

In the afternoon I went to pick up Khun at the ferry but on the way Nui phoned me and said he will be 30 minutes late. I then drove to the service place where I prefer to do all my motorbike service and they had time to change the oil and check the bike before closing down which was just perfect. When they were almost finished Khun phoned me and asked where I was. I had a hard time hearing everything he said but I thought he said I have to hurry. As soon as the bike was set I took off but at the peer there were no people and no boat. I phoned him and asked where he was and he was still at the boat. When I thought he said I needed to hurry he said that I did not need to hurry. I only heard the to first letters and missed out on a few and the meaning of the phrase changed. I sat there for half an hour before the boat finally arrived. Then we went to Macro to buy some things. Today I have been driving around a lot but I have not been close to any accidents or maniacs, or well. Close and maniacs are two very subjective words but today the traffic was all as the normal every days.

Khun had had a good time, but felt bored over there. At least he had been to the beach party and seen all crazy people and helped his dad with his store.

For me this weekend will be dedicated to music and I wish we will have one day with tons of rain, that would really be nice with some "cold" winds. I spent the evening pumping out loud music from my new system which made me ridiculously happy. Have a good weekend.

Close To Multiple Accidents

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Thursday, April 29, 2010

The last days have been extremely scary. Being more or less forced off the road while on a motorbike happens on daily basis but lately the incidents have been really scary even if used to the fact. Today when we were about to enter the main road by the temple a white guy came in such speed he first crashed into his friend driving in front of him and he was clearly drunk. He missed us by a few decimeters and then was very close to run into 2 very young kids on a motorbike but managed to keep going. At this point I am so fed up with stupidity that I will any day now put a fist in someones face and then just hope the consequences would be too bad. In the morning another guy came driving out from the forest on a small train and I just took for granted he would stop, no threes were covering the sight but no, he drove out right in front of us and I braked as hard as I could and prepared for the accident. The face on the guy was showing that he was terrified and it was very close, again. i so wonder what is going on in the head of such drivers, if anything at all are going on.

During our evening walk today I told Nui that I have to let go of the things that feed me bad energy, lately it has been to many things and I just realized it today. Seconds later a motorbike flew by Nui so close it almost hit her arm. These things are what feeds me with bad energy because it is not only something you can let go of unless as stupid as the drivers. Not even a minute later we heard a car on our small road revving up the engine and we really got scared. We were in a sharp corner and the car came on the small in far more than 100 km/hour and we had no where to escape because of thick bushes at the side of the road. We stepped off the road as much as we could and the car honking the horn and we just hoped that he wound be able to stay on the road in the curve. He did stay on the road but what the hell is wrong with people. I remember the car and if I see it again I will not be quiet. There are such an enormous percentage of the people who are not at all scared of having themselves of any other one killed which is very sad.

In the last week I have been in more close calls than over the years. I must have entered some bad timing period and I am happy I use as big marginal in the traffic as I possible can but that might not help every time. I have not mentioned these incidents but since they now got so many in such a short time I could not resist writing about it.

A Day In Bed

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Yesterday I had fever and a very sore throat. I felt two days ago that I did not feel fine but I did not care about it but went on our pick-nick. I hate staying in bed during day time. At the tim ewe got home I was feeling pretty bad and the next morning I was almost not capable of leaving the bed with fever going up and down and an aching body, not to mention the throat. It has been more than 35 degrees inside our house and at night we forgot to set our fan on timer and it kept blowing air all night. As I said before I am extremely sensitive when it comes to my throat. I really need to get as much flesh as possible cut out from my throat, no doubt about that.

I stayed in bed and only went up a few quick times to make the number one. It was a horrible day which out neighbors playing around in a pool in 7 hours non stop yelling and making a noise so loud I was really impressed. The hour before they started, the family were singing karaoke on louder volume then the sound system could manage. They started at 8 in the morning. When they finally stopped it was such a deep happy feeling it is hard to explain.

Black as well is not feeling good and probably have a sore throat as well and a cough. Since I was feeing better today I guess I will manage to get him medicine tomorrow. Today we sent Khun to Koh Phangan to his dad where he will be a few days. Before the boat took off the rain started pouring down and we waited to head back home. When it stopped we took off but only minutes later it started again and we took shelter. I had been up almost all day and felt that it was time to get some rest and driving in rain was certainly not what I needed. It might sound ridiculous but it actually gets really cold when it rains. Even if it is above 20 degrees it feels very cold when driving. We had to wait for one of the year longest rainfalls before we could keep going. I then spent the evening in bed watching TV and that is what is next on the agenda as well.

A Terrible Weekend

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Monday, April 26, 2010

New Friend

At Saturday morning at 4:30 I went from home, jumped into the minibus and took off. After we had drove almost one lap around the island we came to the ferry and after that we reached mainland just before 8. The road felt a lot longer than usual and I was sure that he was driving to another place or at least another way this time. Finally we reached the border soon after noon. Since it was Saturday the market was a lot bigger and more crowded, cars were passing the boarder all the time. I started to fill out all the forms that is so important and then went over the border. I then went to the other side of the small building and checked out, went cross the border, filled out the form and then went to get my stamp. After the man had been looking at my passport he said that this was not valid and that I would only get 14 days. I got extremely surprised and did not understand at all. He handed me the passport and said the visa was due to April 20 and today it was 24. Holy smoke, I use to have such good control over everything and now I had made a huge mistake by just assuming my visa was valid until the very end of April. We had been taking at home how I should to in the future since I actually does not fulfill any of the needs to have the visa I luckily have been able to get over the years. Now we would get 14 days to decide instead of three months. Of course I asked him to give me the 3 month stamp anyway but he refused. I still cannot believe I messed up the date with four days. The way back home seemed even more endless and we arrived to the ferry one hour later than usual.

The visa rules for farangs are really crazy. Even if having a business you have to leave every third month unless having 4 thais employed. So if you live close to a border it is easy, if you live on an island of just very far away you might have to close the business for few days. I would like to see all these rules in Europe as well and racism will have to get a new name. It is all just a game of money. I am sick of it and will make sure I never have to do these idiotic trips again.

Today we have been checking the different possibilities and it took time enough to make it to late for Nui to head of so instead we made a cozy beach pick-nick. A big stray dog bounded with me and also taught Khun the importance of not approaching a stray dog without thinking from the animal perspective. The second I saw that he also approached the dog from above I said to him to back away and at the same time the dog showed the teeth but fortunately did not bite. I played around with him in the water and let him eat some ice from my hands which he liked before we went home. It was nice to spend some time together and forget about the visa mistake that I made which have been nagging me.
