We Got Company

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Friday, April 09, 2010

Today I was promised that my stereo should arrive at 10 am and at 9:30 my mobile rang and guess what, they cannot come until tonight. This afternoon I will go pick up Jessica at the airport so that was a bit of a problem. They then said they could make it to 14:00 and guess what. Soon after lunch my mobile rang and they said they could not make it, are you surprised? I am not.

To make a long story short I cancelled the speakers since one reason I bought them from the store was the fast delivery. Instead I went for the better ones in the same series from another store where I was promised to get them delivered the same evening within only one hour. I said I did not believe them and after I paid I went home. 20 minutes later they called me and asked if they could deliver the speakers tomorrow. Wow, I must be a psychic. Tomorrow they will come 10:30 according to them, they probably will but one can never know for sure.

Today I went to pick up Jessica in the evening at the airport. She will stay here for about two weeks or so. We did not get back until after 21 and then she followed me and Nui to Tesco and then we went to eat. During our last walk with the dogs I we heard the strange "duck" sound that I have been hearing many nights and Black reacted to it and started to look into the forest. Suddenly the, baby buffalo which now are getting kind of big came up on the road walking towards us. Jessica went nuts started to run, I think it all got worse since I just told her that I had seen this buffalo run around like completely crazy during the day playing with a bird and throw himself to trees. He was all the way just outside the our house and two tourists was walking by and I guess they got quite scared, I would too. Anyway he was following us for a while but we were some meters ahead. I think he just wants to make friends.

I have no clue how this next week will be, but it use to be a little different when someone is visiting. Maybe a few extra excursions and some beach time. I already got a great little tourist burn on my arms after spending to much driving around on my bike which now means that I have a white body with red arms. Have a good weekend.

Blacks Adventure

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Thursday, April 08, 2010

This morning I started with finishing a record project that needed to be done and then I took off to find a new sound system. As usual I went to all stores and when I was just about to park at Big C my telephone rang, it was Nui. When I left home she was still home and I thought that she would probably call me because Black was following her and yes, so he did. Nui had done all she could to make him stay but it only resulted in Black staying hundred meters behind her running like crazy to keep up with her. As soon as she stopped he was watching bird in the trees on good distance from Nui. She now was at the gas station that is set across the main road and she saw Black catch up with her. He stayed by the road looking back and forth on the traffic and then went out in the danger zone. Cars stepped on their brakes and honked the horns and luckily Black made it. Nui could only watch and pray since she was still ahead when she saw that he was still tailing her. Next to the gas station there is a restaurant where he found himself some food to eat and he did not see where Nui went. All day she was scared of where he was. The traffic is the biggest danger but also other dogs can do harm. On the way he had outrun a few dogs who wondered who this crazy guy was, stepping in to their territory. I could not do anything since I was at the other end of the island but I thought that he stayed with Nui the rest of the day as well and planned on going to get him as soon as I had dropped off some groceries at home. At the time I arrived at home Black was already sleeping on the porch, tired from his life adventure. I did only know he had been following Nui but what happened after the gas station I still did not know. Now it is Nui's turn to speak dog and teach him to stay at home when she drives off on her coffee wagon. I found myself a good new sound system that will arrive tomorrow. Better than Christmas eve.

Guys Night Out

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Monday, April 06, 2010

Afternoon Swim

At Friday I ended up in Chaweng. It all started with me and a friend taking a drink chatting in the afternoon. My drink consisted of pure juice and after a while the juice was switched to cocktails. After a few hours a friend dropped by and he had company by some friends from Sweden. They had a guys nights out and wanted to go to Chaweng. After being home taking a walk with Nala I went back and then we took off to Chaweng.

We were dropping in at different places and had one drink after another. I do not know how many places we went to but we went to clubs and bars and spent most of the time walking which I do not really mind, just strolling around. At about 4 in the morning we went back and I spent the last hour chatting with my friend just as we did 12 hours earlier.

The Saturday was not that bad, I took it quite easy with the drinking the day before so I was only a bit tired from sleeping late. Nui had not slept that much either, she had been watching TV and had a hard time falling a sleep. We spent most of the day in bed which actually was very nice, nothing that we do that often, or almost never.

In the evening we went to Chaweng but skipped the alcohol. We had a nice dinner in a simple Thai restaurant where we enjoyed a great mean together. We were amazed about the good food they had. After that we drove around and walked around looking at things and did not went back home until midnight.

The weather has been very sunny and it is very hot. These few extra degrees really makes a difference and on Sunday we took a late afternoon swim which was lovely. When the sun was about to disappear behind the top of the palm trees we went back home, all tired from playing around in the waves.
