I Have A New Mouse

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Friday, February 5, 2010

Mouse

Today it has been pretty quiet on the street when it comes to the dog barking and fighting. They have kept the female dog inside the house which was a good plan I think. We have only seen Black for a short while in the palm tree forest today, maybe he only saw our house as a good base closer to the female which then also became a safe zone from getting bitten. No matter what I was happy to provide him this.

The weather has been great today as well, it is getting warmer now for each week at least it feels like it. In the after noon I took a trip to Chaweng to do some shopping for Nui and for a while ago we got home from Tesco where we did some more shopping together. Today was the day when my mouse again was promised to arrive. Some days ago I said to Nui that I could bet anything that it will not be there on Friday. Today was the 4th or 5th time I went to the store and I said before that I will not accept anything but getting a new mouse, however I accepted their apologies even though I think it was bad service since the store have done so many mistakes which is the factor for the long time I have been waiting. Arguing is one of the worst things I know since it feeds so much bad energy, at least for me in cases like this.

When we came to the store they told us that the mouse had not arrived yet but maybe next week. I said that it was not ok and that the store first lost my phone number which cost me one month of wait and then they said I had to give them the computer number, if that had been said the first time it would probably never been any problem. The case is that Apple have not done any mistake but the store I bought it from have and I said that the store have to take responsibility for the mistakes and not push them over on the customer. They could not give me a new one because of serial numbers or something like that but they offered me to buy a new one for half the price! I could not resist laughing a little. I bought one of the most expensive Apple computers and to buy new equipment because the store make several mistakes, no thank you. After a while, when I again explained that the store had made mistakes and that the store have to take responsibility for it I got a new mouse!! I think that was great. It again proves that sometimes one have to put the foot down and not just accept things, even in Thailand. I expressed my gratitude very clear and this ending saved my Friday.

Now we will eat a very late dinner and have a cozy Friday. Have a great weekend, I know I will together with my new mouse.

One Bossy Dog

Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Thursday, February 4, 2010

Yesterday was a day filled with dogs fighting all day. The neighbor female dog have her cycle and the male are crazy. There is one dog that tries to be number one and doing a good job in keeping other dogs away. The thing that I do not like is that the people around never ever tell him to stop. It was his owner who came out with a slingshot to make the other dogs suffer and keep their distance. Black the young dog that stays on our porch is also extremely interested and want to be close to the house and he gets beaten up quiet frequently. Anyway the bossy dog does not dare to come on to our yard any more and see, I never even hurt him.
A few times jester day Black came running to our house with the other dog chasing him and that's when he got the message from me. However sometimes I was inside and came out too late, not good at all. Nala gets very triggered from the fighting so I have to take care of her as well so that she stays relaxed. All days and nights dogs are screaming when they get attacked and I soon had enough, maybe I should kidnap that bossy dog for a while.

I think it is extremely stupid to let the dogs do whatever they want and I would really like to let the bossy dog know that it is not his street but this is the way the other people want it so I do what ever it takes to keep my pack safe and not so much more. It is very clear that no one before ever questioned the bossy dog in a normal way, Thai people prefer using rocks and other things to keep the dogs away. Many times when I just want to pick up a shoe or anything Black and previously other dogs as well runs off immediately. I do not want any dog to be scared, just to understand that they are not in charge. Many days I see a foreigner jogging past the house and he often gets a tail of barking dogs and he shouts like crazy to them but they keep doing the same every day because they fear him and obviously he fear them as well. On our walks with Nala the dogs that before barked like crazy bark one time when they hear us and then they join the walk for a short distance. That's better I think.

The weather has been really good and the mornings have been very hot and there are very few spots with shadow during the morning walk. Black do now follow us during most of the walks but as soon as we closes the door he keeps running back and forth between the porch and the house with the female dog.

Now we will have to visit Tesco to do some shopping and then it is time for a walk.

Evil People Make Me Sick

Nala and Black

When I woke up this morning I went up and took a walk with Nala. When Nui had woken up we went to Chaweng to buy some things for her café. The sun was shining and it really was a good day. When we got back home the new dog that has been around the last 3 days was waiting for us. I took the moment to make Nala comfortable around the young male dog that now has the name Black. Nala like other dogs but she is hyper dominant and hyperactive and since I have not been around it almost as starting from zero again. She knows exactly how I want hr to act and she is aware of that she will freak out if looking at the dog so she tried to come up with something to do. She started stare down in the roads and dragged her paws in the dust but her body language said she still had the other dig in mind. After about half an hour back on the porch I let Black slowly get up the stairs and finally they were laying side by side. When we went for a walk Black came along and it felt good to be able to relax since Black comes and goes all days, he is a young dog and he is very interested in everything and does not want to stay still to long. Today a neighbor had some friends over and I think they had a dog as well since a dog on the street behind our house was making a fight all day long.

Suddenly I noticed that Black was hiding under their car in a strange way and the fighting had brought out the dog owner from behind our house. I did not understood was he was up to, sneaking around in a strange way. I then saw that he aimed for a dog using a slingshot. I got really surprised since he is around 45 years old, I am happy he missed. He then saw Black under the car and bent down from one meters distance and shot him before I had time to do anything. Black cried out loud and I got furious and hurried to the car asking what was going on. My instincts wanted to do something else but the things in mind is not very good to do here so I let my eyes speak. He asked if it was my dog and I said no and tried to get him out from there to bring him to our house. The guy went back home very fast. Two other neighbors saw it all and I gave them a strange look. I will never ever understand what is going on inside of such minds. Black did not leave the porch for a few hours but then his curious mind made him take off and again the other dog came running. Black fled to our house and I made attacking dog go away in last second.

When I went to the gym Black went away. I thought he lived close by but when I asked no body knew. He has a collar around his neck and he looks very healthy. Anyway if he want to be in our pack the door is open. It was nice finally going to the gym again. I think I have been there two times the last six weeks. I felt week as expected.

Back To Normal Days

West Coast

Today we are back to normal days. Jessica went to Phuket today after a nice week and weekend. After having some very cloudy days the weather got better and during the weekend we went to see some temples and other favorite places mainly at the southern part of the west-coast. On Sunday we all went to the beach together and relaxed at the same place as we went to earlier. Jessica stayed in the sun while I and Nui stayed in the shadow. I had got plenty of sun on my arms already from our adventures. The guy from Burma approached Nui and tried to ask how long we had been here, as if he did not trust what I had said before. But instead of asking how long we had been here he by mistake changed a letter in the word and he ended up asking if it was quiet here. Nui did not really understand why he asked that since he could see for himself that there were many people around. After a few times he asked in english instead and the message got through. He said he had been here for three years but still did not speak Thai and thought that I was joking with him and that I had been here much longer than I have. The rest of time we he used Thai phrases that he asked his friend about. Very polite and funny guy, no doubt about that.

In the evening we went to Chaweng and enjoyed a dinner at the beach. We went to the same area as we did on new-years eve but this time we tried the place that had so few people since both Nui and Jessica felt sorry for them. We got our drink menus and I asked for the food menu but got no reaction. Oh, this guy did not speak Thai either. During this week when we have been eating and spending a bit more time in the tourist areas it got very clear that many of the people who are working at the beach and in restaurants are not even Thai but from countries close by. Sometimes it is very hard to tell if a person is from Thailand or else. But this guy at the restaurant did not say that he did not understand but only nodded his head for everything I said until I understood that the nodding was his way to say that he did not understand. Asian people in general rarely say that they do not understand, hence the many unnecessary confusions and misunderstanding.

Now it is time for the last walk for the day with Nala. Many dogs have noticed the newcomer and have been very curious.
