A Quicky To The Beach
Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Friday, November 27, 2009

This Friday morning started out with a cloudy sky but suddenly when I looked out it was a prefect blue sky. Yesterday I had a hard time falling a sleep even though I was very tired. The night before I stayed up working on that project that did not look good on the PC and i guess that was why I could not sleep yesterday. This resulted in being extremely tired all day so the good extremely good weather was very welcomed.
In the early afternoon I went to the beach before heading to the gym. The sea was very calm but not that many people on the beach, at least not that part that I saw. It was far from empty and even the jet-ski guys were working but it was far less than during high season, of course.
At first I thought about staying for a while but could not relax but felt a little stressed so I went to the gym. At the beach road I saw Nui so I stopped and drank an ice coffee before I continued. Today it was time for some back punishing but after only 30 minutes I had got enough. I was to tired to give it all.
When I had eaten and taken a shower Nui came home and we decided to go to Chaweng since Tesco here in Lamai have not had chicken fillets in more than a week now. When we took off we saw that the northern part of Lamai already had the new asphalt laid out already which mean that they are working from both ways and only the main area of Lamai is left.
I do not think I have written about our refrigerator yet? We bought a new one less then half a year ago when we lived on Phuket and some strange stains have popped up on the front that cannot be wiped off. We then wrote an email to Hitachi in Thailand and attached two pictures but got no answer so Nui called them and they said that they would call us soon. They did not, so Nui called again and they said that they could send someone from mainland to pick it up and then we would get a new one after five weeks.
I then wrote another email and asked if they could bring the new refrigerator the first time, then they would not have to come again or that they maybe could arrange so that we could get a new one at Tesco here in Samui. To no have the refrigerator for five weeks would mean that we would have to buy a new one. They said they would call us again. This time they did, only minutes later. Now the plan is that they will come here and only change the doors in about one month.
Now I will make myself a plate with fruits before I will sleep.
Have a great weekend.
Asphalt Is Almost Here...
Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Wednesday, November 25, 2009

This morning started out in a very bad way. I checked a project at my PC that I have been working on for a while on my Mac system and I saw that it all looked completely wrong on the PC but perfect on Mac. So now I will have to spend many days figuring out why and hopefully I will also be able to figure how to make it work as I want on both systems. After I noticed this my energy was drained completely. I then had a little glimpse of light when I got the news that a track I wrote some years which got a very unexpected release at a compilation CD a few weeks ago will most certainly also be released in other countries. Since I have not been producing anything in a long time this might be a reason to get going at least on half speed so once again I checked the system at the new computer and just played around a bit. I will have to make a remix of that track as well anytime soon so i really hope I can get the time to to that.
Today would have been a perfect day to relax an hour with a walk on the beach and try to regain some energy but I totally forgot about that in my frustration this morning.
In the afternoon when Nui got home we went to Tesco. Extremely nice not having to drive every or every other day to Chaweng. This Tesco saves us many hours in a month That's for sure. Every evening the weather feels very cold, not when walking but as soon as driving it really feels like it is only about 10 degrees celsius. It guess it has to do with the high percentage of moister in the air. Today I remembered to take a long-sleeved shirt which I forgot many other days. Yesterday when we were walking towards the exit in Tesco a girl asked us if we could take a few minutes to answer some questions. She said it would only take two minutes so we did. It did take a lot longer and most question was regarding our shopping habits but some questions were very strange. Questions if we had a refrigerator, air condition, how many mobile phones, if we had computer, cable TV and so on. They also wanted the address and I actually left that blank. If those papers will get in the wrong hands that one will know to much if writing all those answers. One page was about what hours we usually shop and for how long. All this together would be the perfect information for a burglar. I wonder if all those questions really have any effect on the way they handle their future promotions. One very good thing about the house we live in now is that there are almost always people around and I feel very safe leaving the house.
The asphalt did not reach us today and it might take a few extra days but the preparations are all done making the road tighter than normal because the sides are closed due to the well systems that are being raised in the same height as the asphalt will be.
Asphalt Is Getting Closer
Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Today I am back again. Yesterday when I got home from the gym I did not feel very good. Sometimes I get like a fever reaction afterwards but that usually goes away in a few hours. Yesterday it did not and I fell asleep and slept over 12 hours. I like the gym and I like to give all I have while there, and sometimes the body gets to tired.
It has been very windy the last few days but with a lot of sun. The wind sometimes makes it feel very refreshing and almost cold which I do not complain about as a little variation. The weather changes from cloudy, to blue sky but it never gets worse than that, that being said I mean that it has not been raining. A few times Nui complained about the "cold" weather which almost make me angry because 28 degrees are not cold, and even if a few weeks have this "cold" weather it is nothing to complain about. But to understand that one might have to encounter some real cold weather like in the northern Europe. Then maybe the meaning of cold changes.
The road works goes on with good speed. This picture is taken in the southern parts of Lamai. The water draining wells along the road at this section has been extremely dangerous because most of the wells were raising up from the road while other down. Now the road is almost perfect, only at some places a well is on a lower level than the road. Today the workers prepared the road in the more center part of Lamai so the traffic got jammed at times because of one line being closed. Maybe tomorrow we will have asphalt towards the beach area. Along with the preparation for leveling the wells they also maximize the width of the street. I do not know exactly how much wider but even a few decimeters is enough to make a big difference. Only one downside with the asphalt as far as I heard. It gets more slippery when wet than the concrete. I never had any problem with slippery asphalt before except when accelerating with big bikes when raining so I do not think that is any problem. However the asphalt here is very flat so the water do not have any place to go. Anyway it is very nice to get this new material to drive on.
It is very quiet around here compared to before. Even the beach road is very empty from tourists at least during the day. We have not been to the beach during the day for a long time and I think that I will go take a look the next few days because I have never seen the beach this period of the year.
