What Would Life Be Without Problems
Text by Olle - Living on Lamai Beach - Friday, October 9, 2009

I can only laugh at what I wrote yesterday, that the memory card reader worked fine after it had been formatted. It was a pure fluke in the shop and the few seconds I tried it at home. Once it had been loaded with pictures it was the same thing again. At this time I had had enough and packed the computer in the original package and went to the Chaweng shop where the most experienced guy was working. The virus that was found yesterday I think maybe never existed. I tested the card reader on other computers in the store today more thorough and it did not take long for the error to appear. The strange thing was that when the guy in the store put the USB contact into the computer it worked fine. He said I must have very much electricity in my body, and yes, I can agree with that because when I dragged my finger along the computer screen the finger sort of bounced while Nui or when the shop assistant did it the finger barely bounced at all. The times I was standing next to him the system collapsed. I was somewhat surprised that it would be strong enough to make the system fail, but I asked him to try to move an image or view several images and after a while the problem appeared even when he did it. We tested with a shielded cable and it was slightly better, and also without any cable at all which was possible in that model and that actually seemed to work. But I did not trust it, but took a completely different product that we also tested and it never had any problems and it was also reading the card a lot faster. Virus and electricity, in the end the product was crap. Now I have tested this card reader for a long time so I do not have to risk having to write that it also causes trouble when I get back on Monday. Unbelievable how much time I have to spent on things like this.
In addition to the hours that were spent on the card reader, we also took a look at the sidecar. It looked good but they have to add a railing around so that things on the desk does not fall off and maybe they had time to fix that tomorrow. We are approaching the end.
Tomorrow it is Saturday and I first thought I might skip the tennis but changed my mind after talking to my friend Anders. I thought I better work since I lost so much time lately but I cannot resist the tennis, I just cannot. I went down to Tesco and bought a tennis racket that I forgot to buy for several weeks. When we stood at the counter I was about to explode. A woman believes that a cashier points to them because they had stolen something, while she was in fact pointing while asking a guard to ask them if they had forgotten a bag. The woman's husband comes back throwing ugly words over girl and swing his hand in the air like slapping the girl. I stood 10 cm away from the man and I just stared at his face for his stupid behavior. He then goes over to the female guard who stands just some meters away and grab her hair and jerked it as hard as he could, and I was extremely close to threw myself over him and took a step forward and the man was already done with his assault and sometimes it is better not to do engage not least as a foreigner living here permanently. No one else did anything either and I asked the people around me if that was an acceptable behavior just to show that I thought it was crazy, I did not get any real answer. For me it is unbelievable that you can get away with violence against anyone like that, not least a security person. Nui got pretty upset as well and said that she hopes the girl contacts the police, who will probably not care. I am still pissed off because it is such a psycho behavior and if it had been in Sweden I would not hesitate a second to give the girl a good backup.
I will now do my best to let go of the incident and try to have a pleasant Friday night.
At last I will explain the fuzzy picture above. While I was eating dinner I saw this cute story on the “crazy channel” Miracle, the channel that mostly air stories about ghosts, about a bird who has a dog as best friend. They did even eat from the same bowl and the bird did not fear anything. The program host was at the location and when petting the dog the bird attacked the hand and he also went crazy when other dogs came close to the dog. When the dog went for walks the bird tagged along. He did only fly when he could not keep up with the dog by foot, other wise he was running and jumping to keep up on the walks. Funny!
I wish you a nice weekend from Koh Samui.
